Itinerary Highlights

Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport, you will be greeted and assisted by a Karusan Travel representative and transferred to your hotel in Colombo.
Colombo is the business and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Originally a small seaport, the city rose to prominence in the 16th century with the arrival of the Portuguese in 1505, and further developed as a major harbor during the British period. Colombo became the capital of Sri Lanka in 1815 after the fall of the Kandyan Kingdom.
Colombo is also a shopper’s paradise, offering a wide variety of quality clothing and fashion accessories. A visit to ODEL Unlimited provides ample opportunity to indulge—not only in shopping for designer apparel for the entire family but also in exploring gourmet treats that take your taste buds on a delightful journey.

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Kandy, en route visiting the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and a spice garden in Kadugannawa.
The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, located northwest of Kegalle, halfway between Colombo and Kandy, was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife Department. Set on a 25-acre coconut property along the Maha Oya River, the orphanage provides care and protection to orphaned elephants found in Sri Lanka’s jungles.
The Kadugannawa Spice Garden showcases many of the spices for which Sri Lanka is famous. Visitors are introduced to different spices and shown how they are grown and processed. A local processing and training unit has been established, and farmers are grouped in a cooperative to ensure fair prices. Guests also have the opportunity to purchase spices directly from the source.
Continue to Kandy to visit the Gem Museum, followed by an evening Cultural Dance Show.

Royal Kandyan

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
Temple of the Tooth Relic – When King Wimaladharmasuriya I (1592–1604 A.D.) ascended the throne in Kandy, he searched for the Tooth Relic and the Bowl Relic of the Buddha. He discovered that the relic had been kept at the Delgamuwa Raja Maha Vihara in Kuruwita for over 44 years, hidden in a grinding stone. The king personally retrieved the Sacred Tooth Relic and brought it to Kandy in a grand procession.
The first temple to house the relic next to the Royal Palace was constructed by King Wimaladharmasuriya I. The Portuguese later burned down the two-storied building. King Wimaladharmasuriya II (1687–1707) then erected a three-storied structure, which was also destroyed by fire. Subsequently, King Narendra Singhe (1707–1739 A.D.) built a new two-storied temple, which largely survives to this day. He also adorned the outer walls with 32 Jataka Stories, illustrating scenes from the Buddha’s previous lives.

The tour covers the early days of planting and the lifestyles of the early colonial settlers, the manufacturing process, and how different flavors are created to suit various palates, combining local knowledge with flexibility.

Wadduwa is located on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, along the coastal line between Waskaduwa and Wadduwa. It is approximately 70 km from the international airport and about 40 km from Colombo. This relaxed beach paradise, particularly in Kuda Waskaduwa, is among the most exclusive locations for hotels in Wadduwa, hidden between coconut plantations. The area is known for its golden sands and clear blue skies. Kuda Waskaduwa is also a working fishing village. Each morning, local fishermen bring in their catch of the day – visitors can experience this by strolling to the market to see what the warm Indian Ocean has provided.
